An Italian seasoning mix is one of my favorite seasonings, and I use it almost daily. I love it, not only because of the taste and the smell but also its versatility. It is great to season my homemade Italian and non-Italian dishes, including salt-free sweet potato chips.
The mix has so many varieties and is available in almost every (local) supermarket and online. Unfortunately, they usually contain salt, and those that do not, are usually more expensive.
It is quite ridiculous, considering that I have to pay a little more for the thing that I want the manufacturers to exclude. So, it is a lot cheaper, easier, and more convenient to make a delicious salt-free Italian seasoning mix from the herbs that I have already had in my pantry.
What you need:
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano leaves.
- 2 tablespoons dried basil leaves.
- 2 tablespoons dried rosemary leaves.
- 2 tablespoons dried thyme leaves.
- 1 teaspoon dried savory leaves.
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves.
- 1 teaspoon rubbed sage.

What you need to do:
Please note that the Italian seasoning mix’s main ingredients include basil, oregano, rosemary, and thyme. I usually add savory, marjoram, and sage to enhance the taste.
- Gather all of the herbs that you need for the mix.
- Add the herbs according to their measurements.
- Put the lid of the jar back on, and shake it until the herbs are properly blended.
- The Italian seasoning is now ready to be used.
Please also note that I find it a lot easier to use the empty jar of the original Italian seasoning mix that I bought previously. I usually just refill the empty jar with those herbs according to the measurements mentioned above. Enjoy!
